CIRFS PRESS STATEMENT ON THE EXTENSION AND STRENGTHENING OF THE EU ANTIDUMPING MEASURES ON IMPORTS OF HTYP

Following the European Commission regulations[1][2] concerning the anti-dumping duties on imports of high tenacity yarns of polyesters (HTYP) from China published on 12/05/2023, the European Man-Made Fibres Association has issued the following statement:

Brussels, 25 May 2023 – CIRFS welcomes the extension and increase of EU anti-dumping measures on high tenacity yarns of polyesters from China, strengthening fair trade conditions for EU producers that have been facing substantial injury by dumped imports for many years and exposing China's massive excess capacity and trade distortions in the textile market. More than 1,000 jobs across the EU are being defended by the measures.

This case demonstrates that Europe is able to strongly act against unfair practices to safeguard the local production of strategic products such as high tenacity yarns and limit its reliance on China”, said Frédéric Van Houte, Director General of the European Man-Made Fibres Association (CIRFS). “Actually, trade distortions by China threaten the whole textile value chain in the EU. In all circumstances this must be stopped.”
